I haven’t written lately, though I’m sure hardly anyone has noticed. Things have been busy, and so I’ve not said much, but Brian is telling me to get back in the business, so here we go…
Work’s busy as can be - more and more to do all the time, but we’re handling it as well as we can. I’m doing what I can to change the way we work around there, but it’s a tough process. I’m pushing a lot of ideas - Ruby on Rails, Subversion instead of VSS, new methods for project management, Agile development processes, and more. If even a little of it takes, I think things will run much more smoothly for us. The company is getting bigger, and any benefits we can pull out of new approaches could make a huge difference. I’m excited to see where things go and what I can do.
Everything else… Doing a lot of web sites for fun, learning all the Rails that I can. Concerts have dropped off a bit lately, thought there may be a surge over the rest of the year, as there are quite a few good ones coming up. Other than that there are a few projects going on for myself - redesigning low Profile, reworking WBB, and keeping up with TightWad. I feel like I have another idea for a project every other day, and I’ve been using BackPack to try to keep some notes on those and everything else in my life. I’ve been bad about being organized, and I’m hoping that this can help me get some things under control.
