And let it be noted that there is no more delicate matter to take in hand, nor more dangerous to conduct, nor more doubtful in its success, than to set up as the leader in the introduction of changes. For he who innovates will have for his enemies all those who are well off under the existing order of things, and only lukewarm supporters in those who might be better off under the new. - Machiavelli

If you didn’t know, I keep a page of quotes I find inspiring on BackPack. I just opened it up to find a different one, and this was at the top of the page. It’s been a couple weeks since I added it to the page, and upon seeing it today I really started thinking about things that have been going on lately. Unfortunate things happen, and sometimes actions that we do with the best of intentions are taken as the opposite. We can try to explain ourselves, we can demonstrate our true goals, but sometimes it falls on deaf ears.
I’ve tried to be a catalyst for positive change, in a myriad of ways, in anything with which I involve myself. Why work on something you think will fail, why stay with something that you feel is on the wrong track? You can run away, or you can try to save it. I’d like to think I’ve tried to save things and make a difference. I’ve challenged the status quo because I’ve felt that it was a threat to our continued success. It hasn’t always been received that way, and while that’s to be expected, I feel like it’s called my loyalty in to question at a place that meant the world to me. I’m going to try to fix this; I just hope that it isn’t too late.
