Smart Defaults - when a user asks for something, see if it makes sense for 80% of users. Most of the people who speak up are edge cases, in the other 20%.
What assumptions can you make about the user when using widgets/code like FCKEditor, Dojo, etc.
YULUP - data entry method - look in to this.
Selling Usability - Get Data to back up your arguments. Find out why someone is against spending more time on usability and address it - extra time, relieve their concerns, etc.
Mock things up as quickly as possible.
Here’s your idea, here’s my interpretation and why I think it’s better.
Directing the way the user’s eyes move around the screen, doing things to get their attention in new environments.
