MinneBar Notes - Designing For Use

 I hit the back button and lost all my notes. That’ll teach me to try to do this in the browser.

  • Smart Defaults - when a user asks for something, see if it makes sense for 80% of users. Most of the people who speak up are edge cases, in the other 20%.
  • What assumptions can you make about the user when using widgets/code like FCKEditor, Dojo, etc.
  • YULUP - data entry method - look in to this.
  • Selling Usability - Get Data to back up your arguments. Find out why someone is against spending more time on usability and address it - extra time, relieve their concerns, etc.
  • Mock things up as quickly as possible.
  • Here’s your idea, here’s my interpretation and why I think it’s better.
  • Directing the way the user’s eyes move around the screen, doing things to get their attention in new environments.
  • Battery is dying, I have to post this now and charge up later.
